Shawn Strong

My name is Shawn Strong, I'm 20 years old from Alpine, Ut! I have been riding motorcycles for twelve years and have been racing for eleven years. I have won six USRA state championships and I am currently leading the USRA series in the Open expert class as well as Overall and am currently standing 10th overall in AMA National Hare and Hound Association series. I race because I love it! I have been paying my own way to races since I was sixteen, my dad has always been there to help me when he could but as far financially I have had to work pretty much full time to support my racing habit. I love it when people ask me how much money we win for going to races and I just look at them and laugh and say, "NONE". From the outside looking in, it's hard to understand what makes us moto heads tick but I guess its just something in our blood! I always try to imagine what life would be with out racing, and I can't. I enjoy spending my Friday nights prepping my bike for Saturday in the hills!

ISDE, International , Six , Day, Enduro! SIX DAYS! Until 2006 I really had no idea what ISDE was, until I met Greg Gillian, he was doing a fundraiser for ISDE and I went to a riding class with him. He started to explain what it was and how it worked and I was instantly hooked. In 2007 I competed in my first ISDE Qualifier in Ohio, I had an awesome opportunity to fly out and race back east with my new boss Bert Bradford and my Hero at the time, Rob Phillips! Talk about a life experience! Racing in an area and terrain that I had never ridden, racing a format of racing that I have never raced, I was like a fish out of water when I showed up! After that race I was hooked and there was no turning back! I raced the Idaho City Qualifier in 2007 , 2008, and 2009! It's truly the one race every year that I look forward to, year after year! In 2008 and 2009, I qualified for ISDE in Greece and Portugal but had to turn down my spot due to financial reasons.

After having bike issues on Day One of the Idaho City 100 ISDE Qualifier, but still finishing with a Bronze medal, Shawn was able to turn it up on Day Two to get a Gold medal and an invitation to ISDE in Mexico this year!
